DINA!!! ...DINA!!! ...DINA!!

Hello all my D&F friends .....

I don't have much to show you this week! ...NOT!! .. OMG brain overload!
I just spend the last 3 days ... yes 3! .... attending the bestest, most yumminess, totally awesome (yes I said totally) WORKSHOP EVER!!!! ------ DINA WAKLEY -------

I booked into to this event about a year ago, & let me tell you it cost some $$$ to do all 6 classes over 3 days!..... BUT! so very worth every cent & more!
What do I say about Dina! ... there are really no words on how much of a fantastic teacher she is! She is so much FUN & kept it going all weekend! ... OH MY GOD .. I am still coming down from the high!
Friday - Like usual I was LATE! ... I am always late, so I ended up front & centre! ... teacher pet .. lol but in my opinion the best spot! I got to have heaps of little chats with Dina, lots of cheekiness  & laughs. Dina know how to kept her audience engaged which makes the class so magical. Not only that I have learnt so much, my brain has yet to slow down from all the ideas.
I started scrapbooking nearly 14 years ago, started with Creative Memories, to Design Teams, published in a lot of magazines to it completely taking over my life --- Then I got sick, I was sick for a long time --- Scrapping no more until I started back up a couple of years ago. But I never really felt like I was back in the "groove". I have had this little part of me that was still so tight I just couldn't let go, If I did everything would crumble. Until now ...

After the first 3 hours class on Friday, the way she taught, she was fast, fun & pushed us. I stood up & felt the biggest relief , like I have never felt. I really felt happy. You know.
I honestly believe that my art is free.

Just some of the Art we made!
There was so much!!!

Faces Class!!
SO scary .. we had to draw a "loose face ", by
holing just the end of the pencil & using our
arm to guide...

A couple of silly shot ... LOVE THEM!!!!!

Two pages I done today!!!
I think a lot of my work will have a lot of
"DINA" in them... only until
I get right back into my groove ...

& I won a PRIZE!!!!!

Sorry that was a HUGE post!!

Until next time!

See you

Scrapping the everyday with Christmas collections

Hi my Deer & Fawn Designs Friends,

Thanks for joining me today for another Saturday, ahem....
Scrapaday post!

Today I wanted to blog about all those Christmas patterned papers we love to buy around this wonderful time of the year.
You know the ones, they're so gloriously Christmassy that we can't actually use them until it's time for December Daily - well, not anymore!
I am not holding back on Christmas papers.
My challenge is to scrap an everyday page that is not Christmas at all, but still uses the Christmas collection!

I know, trust me to find a tricky challenge, lol!

Here's what I came up with,

"LOVE"

Isn't this layout the sweetest?!!! This photo melts me everytime!
And yes, not a drop of Christmas in the page despite being created from the
Lots of fun and so many gorgeous elements too!

Let's take a closer look.....

Let's start with those awesome pattern papers - seriously fun Christmas colours, but a simple dot or star pattern means we can create more than just festive layouts. Love it!
There's also a journal card popped in under my photo too - it featured a poinsettia so I made sure that was hidden away!

The sequins, flair and wood veneers are also from the Tis The Season collection - but as you can see, they're so versatile & work perfectly with my 'everyday' page.
The green doily is from my stash, but the other two are from Charms Creations.
The one beneath that cute flair is a Butterfly Mini Runner and just trims my photo beautifully!

And there you have it! Christmas papers but not a Christmas layout!
Hope you liked my creation today,
and moreso, that I've inspired you to give my personal challenge a go!
Would love to see what you come up with!
Post your take on this challenge on the Deer & Fawn Designs Group Facebook page & I'll randomly select someone to receive a RAK gift from me!
And if you haven't done so yet - please link up your entry to our November pretty birdy inspiration challenge!
There's an amazing prize up for grabs!

Thanks for visiting,
til next time,

Tam's turn.....Sharing a card

Hi everyone.

Tam here, popping in with a very quick post today.

Today I am sharing a recent card I made.......

I wanted the card to have a vintage feel.  It's a sympathy card for friends of mine who said goodbye to their father/grandpa.  Sad times.

It's not often I find the time to create a card, but when I do I try to treat it like a layout - that's why I like a square card, as it feels like familiar territory!

Thanks for joining me today.......

See you next week

Second Reveal - Guest Designer Lynn Good

Welcome back.

As promised last week here is my layout I created using the colours and softness of the mood board to create this heritage layout of my Great Aunt when she was a young lady winning the May Queen contest in England.

I have used paper from Maja Design that I coated with clear gesso then used a Crafters Workshop stencil, Prima Art Basic Light Paste and Ken Oliver Colour Burst Powder - Violet.  Before this dried I applied some fine purple glitter.

I then applied a variety of stamps from Prima and Kaisercraft.

Behind the photo I have fussy cut flowers from Graphic 45 paper, and placed with flowers from Petaloo, prima and iamroses.

The chipboard is from Imaginarium and the title from Dusty Attic.  These have been embossed with Stampendous Powder - Shabby Pink.

Finishing touches with Creative Expressions micro beads and Prima glass beads and a lace doilee or two.

Here are some close ups:

Here is the awesome mood board this month:

Thank you to Deer and Fawn for having me over this month.  I thoroughly enjoyed this inspiration image and look forward to seeing what everyone creates with it.

I have been a little busy with work (yuck!) & my daughters 10th birthday! Jorja turned the big 10 yesterday & will be having a sleepover party this weekend. Exciting times.

For my November challenge, I was super excited about working with these yummy colours my brain was doing leaps, hops & jumps! .... I went to bed that night & I started to have funny little dreams about a purple Alien Girl! .... So that is where I went ... LOL .
So here she is .... a little different but I am so in love with her <3 ....

He is 2 Cute

Hello there Deers & Fawns, we have a lovely sunny day here today so I thought I'd share a layout I did a little while back because I love the bright feel of the colours.  The dots on this layout are Liquid Pearls, I love the huge range of colours and you can match just about anything.

Here's a close-up.

I really love white space but if you're not used to it why not give it a go.
If you're not scrapping today have a beautiful day out in the sunshine.

Amanda's Take on the November Challenge

Hi my Deer & Fawn Designs Friends!

Wow! Hard to believe it's November already?! Where does the time go?
But being a new month, it does mean time for a new challenge!
& this month's is a ton of fun!

Simply take inspiration in any shape/form from the gorgeous image below...

I know - really stunning isn't it?!
So many different ways to tackle this challenge -
And remember you can create anything you like!
But enough chatter, here's my take on it.....

"Laugh Every Day"

Firstly, how hillarious is my Mr A for Awesome?!!
Loved that I managed to capture this moment; so funny indeed!
Note to self: Always keep your camera handy ;)

Now, back to the scrappy challenge fun.....
I was totally mesmerised by the blue and green tones of the birds feathers -
such divine colours to play with!
I was also in a bit of a scrapping 'rut'  when I made this.
Having completed so many 'clean' pattern paper layouts of late,
I really needed to break away.
Mixed media is always my go to style for renewing my creativity and having a bit of fun!
I love that you never really know what you're finished product will look like,
it is just about the process!
And boy oh boy was there a process!
I've used gelatos, inks, watercolour, mists, texture paste, gesso, well a bit of everything really!

Let's take a closer look.....

So despite breaking away from pattern papers,
I still kept with a simple circular pattern throughout my layout.
Love that Traci Bautista (aka Stencil Girl) circular template - so very cool!

I added the wood veneers to balance all the aqua & black.

And how totally awesome is that chipboard title and speech bubble?
They're from Imaginarium Designs, and I've sprayed them with Charcoal Kaisermist.
Seriously cool!

And that's my take on the November challenge!
Hope you liked it - but more importantly,
I hope it has inspired you to join in on the fun & upload an entry!
There's an awesome prize up for grabs too :)

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment,
til next time,

Tam's November Challenge!

Hi everyone

Hope you have some plans for the upcoming weekend.   I really hope some of it includes some time for you......some scrappy time.

To kick start you into the weekend, I've got my November Challenge to share.
It's a great one......super cute and colourful and will have you jump started into a layout in no time.
So the challenge is.....to use this cute birdy as your inspiration....and create anything you want.... it could be a layout, mixed media or what ever you want to create....please also note you can use ANY products you like for this project......so go raid your stash!

So cute right? Here's my take on it.....

As soon as I saw the little birdy.....I was reminded of this quote, which is something I say to my daughter, whenever she is feeling a bit uncertain......whenever she needs to be brave.

As I hunted through my stash for the gorgeous colours, I discovered something......I have no purple! I know right?  I'm not a fan of  the colour purple, but I was a bit shocked to find so little.  I had some alpha stickers and a resin bird (perfect!!) but absolutely no paper, so my solution....watercolour paint.  I love this stuff.  I love the arty look....and its pretty forgiving, and oh yeah lots of fun!

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.....
So make sure you upload your creation to the side bar before the 30th November to be in the running for the following prizes....

Deer Designer Choice Award -
D-Lish Scraps "Just Add Paper Kit"

Random Draw Award - Donated by Deer & Fawn Designs
Project Life Everyday Edition 6x6 Paper Pad
Project Life Everyday Speciality Cards
Project Life Forever Young Speciality Cards
Project Life Sweet Edition Speciality Cards x 2

These are fantastic prizes!!! I wish I could enter!!
See you next week,
Tam

Love - Em's November challenge

Hi,
Hope everyone is scraptastic!!
A new month has well and truly started and that means a new challenge here at Deer and Fawn. This month it's a mood board inspired by this gorgeous little fella,

Awesome!!

I was so excited to see these colours and then panicked as I thought I didn't have any purple
 BUT.....

I found plenty when I dug around my stash!
I decided I would have a bit of fun playing with filters over my photos with this LO. And used a 'cartoon' one for the main image.

And it's amazing what you can find when digging around in your stash that you just didn't know was still there!!!
Mixing some old with new with this one was fun!!
I hope you will have a go at this great challenge this month!!
Can't wait to see what you all create.

Till next week, Em. Xx
